NASA NG National Grand Prix Overview

EVENT CONCEPT

We propose a circuit type event in which automobiles compete on a closed-circuit track. The race follows a proposed route from a start point to a finish point over a measured distance. Electronic timing and speed sensing systems will be used to record race results.

Before the race the drivers will perform a qualifying shootout lap for the grid line up which will be used to determine the start position of each driver for the main race.

The first lap of the race is called the formation lap which is to allow the drivers to get familiar with the track route and warm their cars up for the proper laps.

NASA NG will present two special regulations which is to guide the event, namely Technical Regulations and Sporting Regulations. Technical regulations will contain details of the car specifications and modification used by the teams competing for the event, while the Sporting Regulations will detail the rules that will guide the teams and their drivers on and off track as well as penalties that will be applicable when the rules are broken.

NASA NG will procure a timing system for the race, this timing system will be able to measure total race time, lap time and gap time between two or more drivers in real time.

THE RACE OVERVIEW.

The proposed name for the event is Nigeria National Grand Prix. The proposed date of the event is November 2nd, 2019 (Saturday) two-hour free practice session and an hour qualifying shootout to determine the grid start, and November 3rd  (Sunday) for the main race.

The grand prix will future 15 race laps, adding the formation lap bring the total length of the race to 16 laps.

The race will feature 1 compulsory pit stop that will be made by each team. The pit window will be opened after lap 4 of the race at the designated pit wall. The 4 tires of each participating vehicle will be removed and replaced by their respective pit crew.

The time taken for each lap, pit stop (pit entry, tire change, pit exit) and total race time of the teams will be measured by race stewards.
